Who We Are - Comboni Missionary Sisters

Comboni Missionary Sisters

Institute of women dedicated to mission

We follow the Comboni charism in synodal governance, striving to be a sign of God's Kingdom in the world as missionary disciples.

Founded in 1872 • 31 countries • 950 sisters
01

Our origins

The Institute was born from the urgent need that Saint Daniel Comboni recognized to integrate the presence of consecrated women in missionary apostolate. We are a religious-missionary family of pontifical right.
02

Being bread for the world

Our mission is to be missionary disciples who live the Comboni charism, nourishing people with Christ's love, justice and peace, bearing witness to God's Kingdom and spreading the Word of life.
03

Comboni charism

As "Pie Madri della Nigrizia", we continue and update the Founder's charism, configuring our lives to that of Jesus and assuming the feelings of his Heart, his passion and his life project.
04

Women of the gospel

We have developed through past and present, thanks to the dedication and missionary passion of so many "women of the gospel". We depend on the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, maintaining frequent contacts in a spirit of union and collaboration.

Discover our charism

We are consecrated women called by the Spirit of God to continue the mission of Jesus Christ according to our founder's charism.
